SPIRIT OF THE RED CROSS AWARD WINNER, RALPH DUNBAR, March 1, 2007

Ralph Dunbar is the kind of guy who would rather blend into a crowd, and not seek the limelight for his efforts. Instead he'd rather the spotlight would shine on the men and women who serve in the Armed Forces, for they are the ones Ralph considers the real heroes.

Since 2004, Ralph has been a dedicated volunteer for A.C.E.S. - or American Citizens Encouraging Support, a local non-profit dedicated to supporting overseas military and their families. Ralph has attended more than 800 homecoming celebrations honoring returning servicemen and women, as well as several unit deployment and demobilization ceremonies. As an A.C.E.S. volunteer, he also has attended funerals to honor those killed in action. His fellow volunteers note that Ralph is always steadfast in his duties - whether he's working long hours filling care packages to send to troops abroad, carrying the American flag in veteran parades, or making wooden games to put into Christmas stockings that are sent to the Veteran's Hospital.

Ralph daily demonstrates that he is a true friend to men and women serving this country, and is well deserving of the honor, Spirit of the Red Cross.
